20 Weeks!

Well I am now officially half way through this pregnancy and I have to say that so far I don't have any complaints!  I am very excited to get this baby girl here but I am also soaking up having just one little for a little while longer.  The last few weeks have been totally crazy for us with a house hunting trip to Oklahoma, saying goodbye to friends and family in SoCal and then having all of our stuff packed up and shipped off to our new home!  We are is escrow to sell our California house and under contract to purchase a new one in Oklahoma,  We are currently visiting family in Arizona and enjoying some relaxing time by the pool!

So far this baby girl is pretty active.  She likes to kick frequently which is fun, though I hope she doesn't find my ribs like her brother did!  I had my anatomy ultrasound right before we left California and everything looks good.  I saw two arms, two legs, ten fingers, and ten toes :)  It was so fun to watch her and see her sweet little profile!  She decided to be stubborn and wouldn't turn so that they could see the bridge of her nose but after doing some walking and poking and prodding she finally shifted enough so that we got everything needed. Right now I look about four weeks further alomg than I did at the same point in my first pregnancy which is pretty normal.   I still have a fairly small bump but it is definitely a bump at this point!
So far I have been enjoying this pregnancy and just hoping that everything will continue to go smoothly!
20 weeks with G, 20 weeks this time, 23 weeks with G

 20 Week Update

How far along: 20 weeks
Baby is the size of a: Mango
Total Weight Gain: Not sure- I'm trying not to obsess over the scale with this pregnancy because last time I got too caught up in it so I'm not going to be filling this one out anymore.
Maternity Clothes: yeah I switched to maternity pants about two weeks ago.  I probably could have stuck to my jeans a little longer but I'm more comfortable in maternity pants.  I have mostly been wearing dresses though and those are mostly non maternity.
Sleep: I get as much sleep as Grayson allows but no problems related to the pregnancy yet :)  G is a pretty good sleeper so most nights I get at least 8 hours.
Best Moment of the Week: Getting to see Baby Girl at the anatomy ultrasound!
Miss Anything: I would love a pina colada but nothing is too bad.
Movement: She seems very active, much more than Grayson was at 20 weeks but that may just be because you tend to feel your second child sooner than the first.
Food Cravings: Queso!
Symptoms: Nothing yet!  So far I just have a bit of a bump and I can feel her kicking.
Belly Button In or Out: In!  I'm definitely not big enough for it to look weird yet.
Looking Forward To: Grayson's 1st nirthday!

11 Months

Wow our sweet little man is now 11 months old!  I have officially turned into one of those where has the time gone people because it feels like this last year has absolutely flown by!  This last month was a very busy one for our family with Julian accepting a new job, getting ready for a move, a surprise trip to New York, my first Mother's Day as a mom, and some crazy wildfires that postponed our house hunting trip to Oklahoma.  G is getting even more mobile and is a very busy little guy so he has been keeping us on our toes!

We started out the month shuttling J back and forth from the airport for a variety of interviews.  Fortunately we moved G up to a convertible car seat from his infant carrier because it keeps him up much higher so he can see out the window which means he enjoys car trips a lot more than he used to.  We also celebrated G's first Easter as a family with a wonderful sermon and a little Easter basket for G.  I filled it with empty eggs, a few animal puppets, a movie (for when he is a little older), and a few other little toys.  He loved exploring the basket and the new toys and it was cute to watch his little face.  :)

After J decided on which job was the best fit for him and our family, we started the preparations for our move.  We listed our house on the market, scheduled a trip to Oklahoma to house hunt, and tried to start working out a tentative schedule.  J finished working (he is now on terminal leave from the Marine Corps until he is officially out July 1st which means he doesn't go to work but he still gets paid) so we were able to spend a lot more time together as a family.  We are trying to soak up as much beach time as possible since we will be land locked very soon!

J's last day of work we met him for lunch at the beach
G always tries to get J's nipples and it cracks me up!

Beach Baby!

This kid loves his Daddy!

My sweet boy :)

Since J is on leave, we decided to go visit some of our best friends who are currently stationed in Brooklyn.  It was a very last minute decision (tickets were purchased on Sunday for a Thursday trip) and I was a little nervous about how G would do on a plane for that long.  He has always been great on flights but we have never flown for more than two hours and now he is a lot more mobile so I thought he might get mad about being confined for 6 hours.  He surprised both of us by being the perfect baby for both of our cross country flights!  It helped that they had tvs in the back of every seat so we were able to let him watch cartoons while he was awake.  He doesn't normally get to see much tv so he was loving it!
He loved looking out the window during takeoff

So comfy on Daddy :)
We had so much fun visiting our friends and their three little ones!  It was awesome to catch up and let the kids interact with each other!  My least favorite thing about military life has been missing friends when they get stationed somewhere else but it is so much fun getting to catch up after a few years!  They took us to Coney Island where G road his first merry go round which he hated.  He was happy on the horse before it started moving but as soon as the ride started he got so sad.  It was pretty pitiful!  We also went into Manhattan for a day and we walked through Central Park and around Rockafeller Center.  I cannot say how much we enjoyed visiting some of our favorite friends and we really hope that in the future we can all live much closer together!

Before the ride started

Sad face! He did not like the horse going up and down

30 Rock!

Love this family!

Mother's Day happened to fall over our New York trip so J helped G make me a cute little card and they picked up a box of chocolates (all of them were good with no weird fillings!) for me.  When we got back from New York there were shoes waiting for me that I had been eyeing so they did very well in the gift department!  The best part of my first mother's day as a mom was just having my little guy there with me to brighten my day!  He truly is a privilege in our home and I am so lucky to have such an awesome blessing in my life!

After we got back from New York, J and I were supposed to fly to Oklahoma for a house hunting trip.  My mom came out to California to watch G for us and it was going to be our first time truly away from him.  The day of our trip, we drove down to the Carlsbad airport because we were supposed to take a little puddle jumper flight to LAX.  While we were driving there we could a massive smoke stack rising up in the sky pretty close to where we were headed.  The airport employees told us it shouldn't be a problem for us but then 15 minutes before we were supposed to take off they informed us that the airport was being evacuated.  There was a massive fire that ended up causing 15,000 people to evacuate from their homes.  The major freeway was shut down so we couldn't drive up to one of the other airports in the area.  There ended up being a bunch of fires that were really hard to put out because we were having really high temperatures combined with terrible winds.  All of the first respondors in this area were put to the test and while some homes and buildings were lost they did an amazing job and minimized damage in a scary situation!
Smoke from the airport parking lot.
We ended up cancelling our trip so G just got to hang out with us and his grandma which he thought was pretty cool. We were able to go to an ultrasound place to find out that we are going to have a little baby girl and then J and I had a date night while my mom watched G.  J decided to head to Vegas for the weekend for a buddy's bachelor party so G got to spend the weekend shopping for baby girl clothes (and some stuff for him) with my mom and me.  G really loves spending time with my mom and the adoration is definitely returned by her! :) We ended the month with some signs of teething- a very sporadically grumpy baby with an intermitent fever, and a nice trip to the beach with Grandma.  This next month is going to be just as crazy with trips to LA, Oklahoma, getting everything packed, and then going to Phoenix!

At 11 months G:
-is 22.5 lbs.  He is quite a chunk and is frequently mistaken for being older than he is.
-is about 31 inches but he is hard to measure so that could be wrong.
-LOVES to move all over the place!  One of his favorite things is crawling up the stairs (though he seems to think that head first is an acceptable option for going down so we normally have a baby gate up) and when he gets to the top (with J) he will yell for me so that he can play peak a boo through the banister :)  It's pretty adorable!
- Is very fast at crawling and likes to zoom all over the place.  He absolutely can't be left on a high surface (beds or couches) because he will crawl right off the edge.  He loves to pull himself up on any furniture and he will take a few steps to get from one thing to the next.
- Loves to eat almost all foods! He particularly likes fruit, sweet potatoes, avocados, turkey, chicken, Teddy Grahams, goldfish, and ice cream (only in very small amounts).
-loves to watch us brush our teeth.  He will giggle the whole time and if he gets his hands on a toothbrush he is entertained for like 20 minutes.
-likes to play in his little inflatable pool (which usually doesn't have water in it), any sort of ball, his wagon and blocks, and his little train that he can sit on or push.
-seems to be starting to get a tooth.  He has been running a low grade fever on and off and will randomly get angry.  I didn't get my first tooth until 16 months so we will have to see if one actually comes in for him now.
