June

I know this post is super late but since this blog is my baby book for G I'm still going to do it.  I'm hoping that now that we are getting settled I can either do weekly or monthly posts on time so that it doesn't get overwhelming trying to sort through so many pictures.  This post is going to cover what we did at the end of May as well as all of June.

After G hit 11 months old we spent the remainder of May being very busy.  We decided to spend Memorial Day Weekend with my Aunt C and her family for our final trip to LA while living in California.  We had a great time with them!  G loved all of the attention that he received and he really, really loved their pool!  They also have a koi pond and there is a turtle that wanders around the courtyard so G thought that was pretty cool too :)  We will really miss being so close to such a fun family!

The day after Memorial Day, we flew from California to Salt Lake where my parents picked up G and then J and I headed on to Oklahoma so that we could do our house hunting trip that had been cancelled a few weeks before.  It turned out to be a blessing that we hadn't made it out when we originally planned because we ended up finding a really great house that we snapped up the first day it hit the market.  I didn't really think that Enid, Oklahoma would have a super competitive housing market like California did but it turned out that between the Air Force base and the oil interests in the town, there are a lot more people trying to buy houses than there are houses available.  Our first two days we picked out a house but we weren't in love with it and then we got a very nice surprise when our house popped up.  We literally saw the house and then had to drive straight to Oklahoma City to go to the airport.  We made our offer and it was accepted the next day.  We flew through Salt Lake again on our way home and we had a two hour layover so we were able visit with my family for a little while.  G had a fantastic time hanging out with his grandparents and aunts and uncles and we are so grateful to them for taking such good care of him!  This was the first time that I was away from him for more than 12 hours and I was worried about how he would do but as always, our laid back baby was great!  He got a little overwhelmed when he saw us when we came through security and first he laughed in excitement and then he started crying.  A few minutes later he was back to his normal smiley self and seemed to be over his initial rush of emotion.

Legos are so fun!

After our Oklahoma trip, we were down to only two weeks left in California so we spent time at the beach, at our favorite park that was only half a mile from our house, going to Sea World, having beach pictures taken and going to our first Padres game as a family.  We also sold our house right before leaving which was a huge stress reliever for us.  The day after we accepted an offer on the house we had packers coming who spent an entire day working as fast as they could so that they could pack and load all of our stuff up in one day.  They ended up working until 11 pm but it was nice to only have one super chaotic day, especially since G just wanted to get in to everything that they were doing.  The next day we signed a bunch of paperwork for the house sale and then we drove to Phoenix where we were going to stay with J's family for a week.  Oceanside was such a great place to live and we were so lucky to have five years there!  We will miss our beach times, perfect weather, abundance of things to do, awesome church and our friends!
G loved the aquarium!

Terrible lighting but we had so much fun at the Padres game :)

Happy Birthday to Miss Kate!  We will miss you!

After saying goodbye to California, we drove to Arizona and spent a week in the crazy heat.  It was over 100 degrees every day that we were there which was a big adjustment from the 75 degree weather in San Diego.  We were able to spend a lot of time with J's family, visit J's high school friends, see my Aunt B and Uncle R, see my best friend Jessie and celebrate G's first birthday!  It was a busy week but we had a lot of fun.  We also went to the lake with J's parents and took G on a boat for the first time.  I wasn't really sure how well G would do on the boat because noises like the vacuum scare him but he seemed to enjoy the wind on his face and getting in the lake when it got overwhelmingly hot.  We are extremely grateful to J's parents for hosting us and letting us get a lot of use out of their pool!  G is a total fish and he just loves to be in the water!  I'm pretty sure he got in the pool every day that we were there!

Father's Day happened to fall over our time in Phoenix and it was nice to have J with his dad and his son to celebrate!  Last year, G was born four days after Father's Day so this was J's first one as a dad himself.  It was fun to have three generations together!  We had a relaxing day of church, pool time, family time and playing cards.  G got J a bunch of things for his road trip to Oklahoma that he was doing later that week and also a very nice electric razor so that J could finally shave his 7 weeks worth of facial hair!  I actually liked the facial hair for a while but it was starting to get a little out of control after that long :)
Happy Father's Day!

J was starting his new job on the 23rd of June so he drove my car from Arizona to Oklahoma on the 20th (which was G's actual birthday).  G and I flew to Salt Lake to spend about two weeks with my family while we waited to close on our house in Oklahoma.  I didn't want to live out of a suitcase in a small hotel room with a baby in a new place where I didn't know anyone and I also had no interest in driving from Arizona to Oklahoma (about 14 hours) with G with us so it worked out well for us to visit my family.  They are always excited  for any excuse to see G (and me but the baby is the real draw) so they were happy to host us.  We celebrated G's actual birthday, watched some world cup soccer, did a little shopping, spent some time with my grandma, took G to the aquarium, and took a family trip to St. George (Southern Utah) to visit my brother and sister who were doing programs down south.  We had a great time as always!  G really enjoyed all of the family and he took full advantage of having so many people to walk him around.  G loved more pool time and he had a really good time chasing my parents poor little dog (a pomeranian) around saying "gog, gog, gog, gog".  It was pretty adorable!  My brother M started "running" G around and watching his little legs try to keep up with his uncle was super cute!  We had a great trip but at the end of the month we were ready to be reunited with J.  Those were the highlights of our June.  It was a super busy month but we were so grateful to spend so much time with our family and friends!
